Kondaneft Sends More Than Three Tonnes of Waste Paper for Recycling in 2022

13 January 2023

In 2022, Kondaneft (an enterprise of Rosneft’s oil and gas production complex) has sent more than three tonnes of waste paper for recycling. There is a system in place at the enterprise to collect and recycle used paper and plastic waste.

Reaffirming its commitment to achieving sustainable development goals, Rosneft pays increased attention to environmental safety and works continuously to minimise its environmental impact. The Company’s subsidiaries implement ideas that help them transition to circular economy in their operations.

Recycling waste paper contributes to the sustainable use of resources and preservation of the environment. For example, 1 tonne of recycled material would save 100 mature trees from being cut down and help save up to 120,000 litres of water, about 600 kW of electricity. Kondaneft is also implementing a programme to switch to electronic document management, thereby reducing paper consumption.

Waste paper collection is not the only initiative of the oil workers to preserve nature. In 2022, employees collected and recycled 50 kg of plastic waste as part of the Good Caps environmental volunteering project. The proceeds are donated to a charity for the purchase of rehabilitation equipment for orphans with disabilities.

Kondaneft employees are also actively involved in reforestation in the regions of operation. Last year alone, 750,000 pines were planted across more than 200 hectares in the Surgut and Agansk forest districts of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District.

Note for Editors:

Kondaneft is developing the Kondinsky, Zapadno-Erginsky, Chaprovsky and Novoyendyrsky licence blocks (Kondinskaya group of fields) in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area—Yugra.
